DO keep it short and sweet
Keep in mind that the people who are reading your resume are often pressed for time. Keep your resume short and to the point, while still getting your important skills across. Keep your resume to one page in length. Your experience will speak for itself!
DON’T use generic terms
Are you a team player or detail oriented? Try to keep these generic, fluff words out of your resume. Use actual experiences or examples to get this point across.
DO stay professional
A good resume should always leave the reader with the impression of professionalism. Have a friend or family member read through your resume before you send it out to any hiring manager or recruiter. You want to make sure you are putting your best foot forward.
DON’T use bad grammar
Nothing turns someone off of your resume and cover letter more than a misspelling or grammatical error. Make sure your resume is completely edited before you send it out. Keep your tone professional and ask someone for help if English isn’t your strength.
DO verify your contact information
You can’t imagine the amount of people who send a resume out to managers or recruiters when they haven’t verified their contact information. Make sure you provide at least one phone number and one email address that you can be reached at.
